SUMMARY:Basics of Greenhouse Technology
DESCRIPTION:A beginner-friendly workshop introducing the fundamentals of greenhouse technology for growers and gardeners. This session will cover how greenhouse systems create controlled growing environments that can extend the season\, improve crop quality\, and increase production reliability in Maine’s variable climate. Topics include greenhouse structures and materials\, heating\, cooling and ventilation\, basic automation and environmental controls\, irrigation and water management\, and common challenges and low-cost solutions for small and mid-size farms. The webinar will also explore IPM methods unique to greenhouse production\, including how environmental conditions can contribute to common abiotic crop problems that may be mistaken for pests or diseases. Participants will gain practical knowledge to better identify these issues and avoid unnecessary use of time\, money\, and pesticides. Eligible for 1 Maine pesticide recertification credit.
