SUMMARY:June Botanical Printmaking
DESCRIPTION:Use foraged materials to create dramatic images from nature. \nJoin Marin-based photographer and printmaker Ben Davidson and photo teacher and artist Laurie Reemsnyder for a creative printmaking workshop using botanical material gathered from the garden grounds and Marin’s hills and forests. \nWe start with a 20-minute “foraging” walk around the 11-acre garden\, then head to the Cottage for a 60 minute printmaking session\, using the cyanotype (photo) process if the day is sunny. On an overcast day\, we will gather plant material to create elegant botanical stencil prints. \nAll participants will receive a wooden frame to showcase their favorite creation from this fun and informative nature walk and printmaking workshop.

SUMMARY:Pottery Floral Garden Stakes Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Make your own garden flowers that will never fade! In this two session course\, you will learn to hand build beautiful floral garden stakes from a slab of clay. An instructor from the Elkhart Art League will teach you the basics of slab hand building—rolling out your slab of clay\, applying texture to your slab\, using templates to create your forms\, decorating your flowers to create your own style\, and the final step of glazing your pieces. \nThis course takes place on two Sundays\, May 2nd and May 16th. When you sign up\, you’re in for both sessions! Students will take home 2-3 finished floral stakes a week after the second session. All supplies are included in the workshop price\, please feel free to bring an apron from home if you’d like. \nThe classes will take place under our covered Outdoor Classroom. Please plan to dress for the weather. If inclement weather arises\, classes may be moved into our indoor Cottage Classroom. This class is intended for ages 16+. All minors must be accompanied by a registered adult. \nRegistration is required; space is limited! This class is non-refundable.
