SUMMARY:Learn the Art of Summer Jam Making
DESCRIPTION:Want to savor the fruits of summer all year long? Join Marinda Freeman for a hands-on canning class and learn how easy it can be! \nBack by popular demand! \nIn this relaxed and fun class\, you’ll learn the basics of jam making and safe canning techniques while we work together using whatever fruits are freshest and most abundant. \nMarinda Freeman has been canning fruits and vegetables for over 50 years\, turning the best of each season into jars of goodness. Every summer she fills her pantry with jams\, chutneys\, and preserves—so when the holidays arrive\, she has beautiful homemade gifts ready to share. Truly\, there’s love in every jar. \nDepending on what’s in season\, we may make: \n• Apricot jam \n• Strawberry lemon jam \n• Peach jam \nThis is a hands-on class\, limited to 8 participants so all will take part in the full process—from preparing the fruit to stirring the pots and filling the jars. \nCome experience the simple pleasure of turning fresh fruit into something you can enjoy long after summer has passed

SUMMARY:June Botanical Printmaking
DESCRIPTION:Use foraged materials to create dramatic images from nature. \nJoin Marin-based photographer and printmaker Ben Davidson and photo teacher and artist Laurie Reemsnyder for a creative printmaking workshop using botanical material gathered from the garden grounds and Marin’s hills and forests. \nWe start with a 20-minute “foraging” walk around the 11-acre garden\, then head to the Cottage for a 60 minute printmaking session\, using the cyanotype (photo) process if the day is sunny. On an overcast day\, we will gather plant material to create elegant botanical stencil prints. \nAll participants will receive a wooden frame to showcase their favorite creation from this fun and informative nature walk and printmaking workshop.
