We’ve got the class for you! \nIn this class you will learn from Wellfield’s own Horticulture Manager\, Kyle\, the basics of how to create a sustainable landscape at home\, how to support pollinators\, and utilize Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methods in the garden. Find out how to incorporate more native plants into your garden—and see how natural doesn’t have to mean messy. \nThis workshop is intended for ages 18+. This workshop will take place on the Garden Trails and in our South Event Room inside the Visitors Center\, please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Registration is required; space is limited! This class is non-refundable. Learn about drying flowers and gathering fall bounty while tapping into your creative side. Spend a few hours welcoming in autumn and add a personal touch to your seasonal décor. \nPerfect for all skill levels. No equipment or experience needed. You’ll walk away with three finished pumpkins that will make a beautiful seasonal decoration for your home. Or use them as a Thanksgiving centerpiece. Using traditional indigo dye techniques and a rich extract derived from a humble green plant\, you’ll watch your fabric emerge from the vat and transform into a signature blue right before your eyes. \nAs part of our America 250 programming\, this hands-on workshop dives deep into the science of natural fermentation and oxidation. We will also honor and uncover the complex history of indigo—one of colonial South Carolina’s most powerful cash crops—and the vital knowledge and labor of enslaved Africans who mastered its cultivation in the Lowcountry. \nUnwind\, create\, and connect while enjoying a selection of light bites and refreshments.
