SUMMARY:Garden Learning Series: A Guide to Gardening with Children
DESCRIPTION:Join our Horticulture Technician\, Kelsey Apple\, for a hands-on workshop designed to help parents\, caregivers\, and teachers confidently garden with children. Participants will learn the basics of setting up healthy soil and garden beds for seasonal vegetables\, along with ideas for fun and engaging plant displays that spark children’s curiosity. \nAs part of the program\, each participant will create and take home an 8″ container garden filled with child-friendly plants chosen to inspire interest and excitement in young gardeners. By the end of the workshop\, you’ll have the knowledge\, tools\, and hands-on experience needed to create a successful and enjoyable gardening experience for your family or classroom. \nCost is $30 for non-members\, members receive a discount. Pre-registration is required.

Growers\, researchers and long-time hobbyists gather to learn\, exchange ideas and spend time together. \nIn 2026\, we meet in St. Louis\, a city with deep botanical roots and a long-standing connection to plant research. Gathering here offers an opportunity to reflect on the work that has shaped water gardening while continuing the conversations that move it forward. \n2026 IWGS SYMPOSIUM REGISTRATION\nThe registration fee of $645 is the Non-Member rate. Please log into your paid IWGS account to get the member rate. You will see this at the bottom of the page when you are accessing the form through your ACTIVE IWGS account. If you are not an active paid-account\, the member rate will not display. Join Mike and Brigette from GreenSpace. the Plant Place for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to build and maintain a beautiful terrarium\, while also learning about the benefits of indoor gardening. We will offer three distinct glass container options – you choose the style that fits your home’s aesthetic! \nPerfect for beginners\, this class covers the science of the water cycle and creative landscaping techniques using live mosses\, stones\, and decorative accents. \nAll materials are included\, and you’ll go home with your finished creation plus tips to keep it thriving. This class will take place in our covered Outdoor Classroom and is intended for ages 14+\, all minors must be accompanied by a registered adult. In case of inclement weather\, this class may be moved inside. All participants will be notifed if so. \nRegistration is required; space is limited! This class is non-refundable. Using real\, natural indigo dye made from a humble green plant\, kids and parents will watch plain fabric dip into the vat and transform into a beautiful\, vibrant blue right before your eyes—just like magic! \nAs part of our America 250 celebration\, this family workshop makes history and science come alive. We will explore the cool science of color-changing chemistry and become history detectives together. We’ll look closely at the story of indigo—one of South Carolina’s most important early crops—and honor the incredible knowledge\, skill\, and hard work of the enslaved Africans who mastered its cultivation in the Lowcountry.
