The Constable Hall garden is among the oldest in the Northeast and has been continuously gardened since about 1820. Sixteen triangular beds and walkways form the design of St. Andrew’s Cross or the flag of St. Patrick. Experience the history of the acquisition and development of Northern New York State. Constable Hall is a historic house museum located in the Adirondack /Tug Hill region of Lewis County, NY. Completed in 1819, the Hall was home to six generations of the Constable family. Tour this historic home with its original furnishings and artifacts and imagine life 200 years ago. Family legend claims that Clement C. Moore authored “The Night Before Christmas” after a visit with his cousin at Constable Hall. This “Jewel” of the North Country” with its historic garden is well worth the visit.
