Join Scott Burdick, board chair of Desert Botanical Garden, for a private tour of his famed Rancho Arroyo garden! Dating to the 1920s, this acre property was originally owned by Hubert Earle, director of the Desert Botanical Garden. Earle filled the grounds with rare specimens brought back from Mexico, including boojum trees, unusual cacti, and striking desert flora. Successive owner Virginia Cave sculpted the landscape to echo natural desert wash with native plantings, including palo brea and several different species of cacti. Further delights include heritage ironwood, saguaro, and totem pole cacti, as well as a fountain-fed, circulating stream that attracts wildlife and nourishes the flowers and grasses.
Scott Burdick is the board chair of Desert Botanical Garden and managing partner at Wiseman and Gale, an interior design firm based in Scottsdale, AZ. Burdick previously worked in Treasury and Finance at Saks Fifth Avenue’s corporate headquarters, then at global management consulting firm Mercer Management Consulting – a division of Marsh & McLennan Companies, in a senior financial role for their European businesses. Burdick received his undergraduate degree in finance from the University of Arizona and MBA from Thunderbird.
