The Mary May Binney Wakefield Arboretum is a 22-acre cultural landscape and certified arboretum with formal gardens, orchards, woodlands and wetlands now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In June, over 300 flowering kousa dogwood trees show off a stunning display during the annual Dogwood Days celebration. The arboretum takes its name from Mary May “Polly” Binney Wakefield, who during her lifetime designed the gardens still in existence today, lovingly restored with careful pruning, the addition of new plant material, and unique hardscape features.<\/em><\/p>\n
