National Children & Youth Garden Symposium

A Legacy of Learning

For over three decades, the AHS’ National Children & Youth Garden Symposium (NCYGS) has trained thousands of educators who have inspired over a million children to engage with their environment through gardening.

Recognizing the need to reconnect children with nature, the AHS established the inaugural NCYGS in 1993 to educate and inspire attendees to approach garden design from a fresh perspective. Since then, thousands of children’s gardens have been developed globally, specifically tailored to the ways children play, explore, and engage with nature.

Today, NCYGS serves as the national model for youth gardening education. Leveraging a proven train-the-trainer model, the Symposium brings together educators, landscape architects and designers, botanic garden staff and others from across the country to explore and promote the many opportunities offered by children’s gardens: social skills development, curriculum enhancement, family engagement, and nature awareness.

NCYGS 2025

The 33rd Annual NCYGS, headquartered at the Connecticut Science Center, will take place in Hartford, CT, from Tuesday, July 8 to Friday, July 11, 2025. Join us for an unforgettable learning and inspirational experience.
