MEIJER GARDENS PRESENTS 2022 CALENDAR OF EVENTS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., — January 19, 2022 — Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, one of the world’s most significant sculpture and botanic experiences, presents the 2022 calendar of major events. Additional programming and events are added throughout the year and current information is available at MeijerGardens.org/calendar. Meijer Gardens incorporates its mission of exploring the duality of art and nature in the upcoming year’s events. Internationally acclaimed annual exhibitions, exciting horticulture shows, seasonal indoor and outdoor displays, sculpture, concerts, and educational programming are enjoyed by more than 650,000 visitors annually.

Expansion Update

The Welcoming the World: Honoring a Legacy of Love expansion project continues through early summer 2022, most notably with ongoing work in the expanded Volunteer Tribute Garden, Tassell-Wisner-Bottrall English Perennial Garden and the Grand Entry Garden.

A guest favorite, Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming features butterflies from around the world flying within the five-story Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory. This year, we explore the positive and powerful impact flowers have on people and the world around us. The 85-degree tropical conservatory will be filled with thousands of exotic butterflies from tropical regions across the globe. More than 60 different butterfly and moth species make this exhibition exciting and colorful.

Foodscaper Summit (virtual)

The Foodscaper, a new publication for professional edible landscapers, announces its inaugural educational summit. The Foodscaper Summit is a virtual two-day educational summit for professional foodscapers and hobbyists – or anyone who wants to learn how to make a living creating ecological edible landscapes. The Foodscaper Summit will bring together the most accomplished professionals in the industry for two days of learning, live panel discussions and networking. Join us January 20-21, 2022. All levels are welcome. $175.

Chrysanthemums & More! Exhibition

This annual celebration of the autumn season features an extensive chrysanthemum display with hundreds of flowering plants in both interior and exterior areas. Indoor highlights include varieties on display along the winding BISSELL Corridor and in the Grace Jarecki Seasonal Display Greenhouse, while outdoor plantings are featured in the Lena Meijer Children’s Garden, Michigan’s Farm Garden and Volunteer Tribute Garden. Tram rides and seasonal children’s activities are available.

Metro Health Christmas & Holiday Traditions Exhibition

Experience the most magical time of year as Meijer Gardens transforms into a world of winter magic with the glow of nearly 400,000 lights, 46 captivating international trees and displays, strolling carolers, Santa visits and more surprises than can fit under the tree. The Railway Garden is a holiday favorite and winds its way through three separate indoor gardens.

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is pleased to present the annual fall horticulture exhibition, Chrysanthemums & More! opening to the public on September 18. This exhibition, the largest of its kind in Michigan, features expansive displays of chrysanthemums, fall foliage and family-friendly activities. The exhibition will be on display through November 1.
