View event website »Join birding expert Rebecca Coulter as she leads a group walk through the Garden for a morning of watching and listening for a variety of birds. During our walk we may see signs of the breeding season: nesting resident species like Dark-eyed Junco, Black Phoebe, Song Sparrow, and Spotted Towhee. We’ll also be on the lookout for some of our migrant species: Western Tanager, Black-headed Grosbeak, Hooded Oriole, and Yellow Warbler – some just passing through, some stopping to breed in our region.

View event website »Join Propagation House at Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens Nursery Manager, Lyn Anton, and learn to divide dahlias before they begin to sprout. Lyn will discuss dahlia anatomy and the different types of dahlias before diving into the art of dahlia division. You’ll get your hands dirty dividing tubers and take one home to practice all you have learned. The class will wrap up with tips on storing tubers, tricks for overwintering, and a discussion on how to grow dahlias.

Kristin Jakob will share her expertise from over 50 years of gardening, primarily in Marin County, with a focus on California natives, alongside other ornamental plants from around the globe. She is a plant consultant for residential clients and as a volunteer for public gardens. Kristin is also an accomplished botanical artist featured in our Plants Illustrated exhibition.
