2024 Columbus African Violet Society Show and Sale

The Columbus African Violet Society will be hosting its annual show and sale of African violets and gesneriads. “African Violets are Like Diamonds in a Pot!” is the theme for this year’s show. The show will be held at Beechwold Christian Church, 280 Morse Road, Columbus, OH on Friday, May 3, noon – 5 pm and Saturday, May 4, 10 am -4 pm. The event is free. Today’s Horticulture Symposium at Longwood Gardens

From garden design to rare plants to woodland pollinators, the topics at the forefront of horticulture take center stage at Today’s Horticulture Symposium on Friday, February 2 from 8 am to 4:45 pm at Longwood Gardens. Leaders in the fields of conservation, restoration, and more guide attendees through the daylong conference hosted by the Professional Horticulture Alumni Association (PHAA). Designed for horticulture professionals, landscape designers and architects, passionate gardeners, and horticulture students, registration for the symposium is now open.

Orchids at Cheekwood

Experience the beauty and wonder of orchids at Cheekwood. The winter celebration, on view from February 10 through March 10, takes over the historic home in its sixth year. This year’s show promises to delight and transport visitors to a tropical paradise. In the Mansion Loggia, the display showcases a series of stylized columns erupting in elaborate headdresses exploding with orchids, lending form and structure to the space, while a lush ground layer becomes an interpretation of a forest floor. The sweeping Mansion staircase sets the stage for the display in the Loggia with a graceful prelude, and new this year, a stunning orchid display will greet visitors in the Botanic Hall atrium.
