Our time together will include sitting, standing, and moving mindfulness exercises and discussion in a judgment-free space using plants, flowers and the gardens as inspiration. Pollination Investigation (Overland Park, KS)
Love pollinators? So do we! That’s why we invited the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and Smithsonian Gardens to share their exhibit, “Pollination Investigation,” with us. The exhibit will be on display at the LongHouse Visitor Center at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens now through November. Come explore the essential role of pollinators through bilingual panels in English and Spanish featuring bees, butterflies, bats, hummingbirds, flies, moths and more.
Entry into LongHouse and the exhibit is FREE. Admission is only required when entering the gardens.

Explore the world of entomology with MSU Extension Entomologists! School groups, nature enthusiasts and the public can enjoy two fun-filled days of exciting, hands-on learning about the environment, ecosystems, wildlife and insects. BugFest offers insect-related displays, interactive exhibits, games and crafts. Biologists, naturalists, entomologists and other experts from Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama will host booths and give presentations. Enjoy seeing live ambassador insects and displays from the NOLA Insectarium, the Hattiesburg Zoo, the Museum of Natural Science and more!

Scarecrow Showdown is a community art installation during the month of October at BGO. Community members and businesses are invited to register and create a scarecrow to be displayed in the Garden. This year’s Scarecrow Showdown will debut as a part of Autumn Harvest – BGO’s signature fall fundraiser. Scarecrows will remain on display throughout the Garden through Oct. 31.

Propagating plants, whether from seed, rootstock, leaf cuttings, or more, is an outstanding and budget-friendly way to increase your indoor or outdoor plant collections. While certain plants ‘propagate’ better than others, we can increase the likelihood of success with a little know-how. Join our Director of Horticulture as he discusses and demonstrates methods and strategies of propagation and what plants propagate best with which methods, timing, and more. You’ll be the star at your next get-together when you show up with a rooted cutting for a friend or family member!
