Winter Pruning Lecture at the Delaware Center for Horticulture (Wilmington, DE)

Join our Community Forester, Heather Titanich, in learning how to properly prune and maintain trees. We will cover the basics of tree anatomy, pruning timing and technique, and recommended tools. This indoor lecture will be followed by a short walk around Delaware Center for Horticulture grounds for demonstration. Heather holds a B.S. in Forest Resource and Environmental Conservation from Virginia Tech, is an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist, and has earned her Tree Risk Assessment Qualification.

Begonias are a diverse and sometimes challenging group of plants to grow. There are approximately 2,000 species and 15,000 recognized hybrids. Annual Orchid Show & Sale at the Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory (Hershey, PA)

The Susquehanna Orchid Society presents its 39th Annual Orchid Show and Sale, “For the Love of Orchids” in the Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory. More than 1,000 orchids representing dozens of varieties will be on display, including rare species and unique hybrids. Daily orchid show tours and informational sessions will take place in the exhibition and Garden Cottage. In addition, vendors will have orchids for sale; various orchid societies will have showy displays that will be judged onsite and presented with awards.

Light: Installations by Bruce Munro at Longwood Gardens

Light: Installations by Bruce Munro is on view June 30–October 30, Thursday through Sunday evenings from 6–11 pm. Light features eight works in both indoor and outdoor locations throughout the Gardens chosen by Munro to showcase his immersive, large-scale, light-based installations. The exhibition can be viewed beginning at dusk. Special tickets are required beginning at 5 pm (June 30-August 28) and at 4 pm (September 1-October 30). Members require free timed reservations if arriving after 3 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from June 30 through October 30. Admission is $35 for adults (ages 19+); $32 for college students and seniors; $19 for youth (ages 5–18), and free for ages 4 and under.
