Treecycle

Join DCH and Wilmington’s Urban Forestry crew for a time-honored tradition of turning celebratory conifers into mulch. Keep your trees out of the landfill and take home a bag of fresh wood chips for your garden. Enjoy hot apple cider and snacks while listening to the festive roar of a Vermeer BC1500. Trees can be dropped off in the DCH parking lot starting December 30th. Please remove all tinsel. First 50 event participants will receive a free tree swag. Program sponsored by the City of Wilmington Public Works.

The Secret Life of Native Bees

Did you know that there are about 250 species of native bees known to occur in Delaware? Unlike the non-native European honeybee, most native bees are solitary ground-nesters and are critically important pollinators of our native wildflowers. Wildlife biologist Matt Sarver discusses the life cycles and specific plant associations of bees documented in research he conducted at Mt. Cuba Center.
