Join plant historian Terri Carter on a journey to the early 1800s to explore how the seeds of history have shaped what we grow, preserve, and eat today. This talk will address the origins of the Southern foods we cherish and how they came to be, uncovering the vital contributions of Native Americans, African Americans, and Europeans to our present food culture.
Terri Carter teaches gardening and plant-focused cooking with The University of Georgia Cobb County Extension and across Metro Atlanta. Her speaking engagements focus on the food history of the south. Carter is a board member of the American Community Gardening Association, where she chairs the education committee and writes the monthly newsletter. Carter is also a Cobb Master Gardener and enjoys seed saving. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama.
