Travel Information for NCYGS 2024

Getting to Chicago

By Plane – You can fly into O’Hare International Airport (10000 W Balmoral Ave, Chicago, IL 60666) located just 16 miles from the symposium’s hotel headquarters. Taxis and app-based ridesharing services (like Uber and Lyft) are plentiful to and from the airport.

By Car – Major routes to Chicago’s North Shore include I-94 from the north (Milwaukee), I-80 from the west (Des Moines), and I-90 and I-65 from the south (Chicago and Indianapolis).

Symposium Accommodations

Hotel Headquarters – The NCYGS hotel headquarters is the Hilton Orrington/Evanston in Evanston, IL (1710 Orrington Ave, Evanston, IL 60201). The historic hotel in lakeshore Evanston is surrounded by the beautiful Northwestern University and local shops, eateries, and breweries. The lakeshore beach is less than half a mile from the hotel.

We have secured a block of discounted rooms between July 7 to July 12 at the rate of $165 per night. Use this link to get the group discount. Individuals must choose their arrival and departure dates to accurately reflect their stay. Reservations can also be made by calling Hilton Central Reservations at 1-800-HILTONS (1-800-445-8667). Use group code 912 to receive the group rate. Rooms will be available at the group rate until June 7.

Session Headquarters – Sessions will be held at Chicago Botanic Garden (1000 Lake Cook Rd, Glencoe, IL 60022), primarily in the Regenstein Center.

Ground Transportation

Session Transportation – bus transportation between the Hilton Orrington/Evanston, Chicago Botanic Garden, and field trip sites is included in symposium registration. More details will be provided closer to the symposium date.
