Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens – See Change: Climate Impact Tour

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays through October 20
How can we build climate-resilient communities? By engaging with stories about the natural world and exploring how our relationships with the environment are impacted by the changing climate. Join us on this BRAND-NEW tour of the Gardens as, together, we examine shifts in human values and behaviors and discuss the future of nature’s interactions. Enjoy the chance to share your perspectives on the changes you see occurring around you in this unique, supportive conversational format. The tour lasts an hour and a half, starts on the Great Lawn, and concludes in the Vayo Meditation Garden.

Garfield Park Conservatory – Seed Saving Workshop (Chicago, IL)

This interactive workshop will review best practices for harvesting and storing seeds to maintain viability and guide participants, step by step, in preparing a limited selection of flower, herb and vegetable seeds from plants grown in the Conservatory’s Giving Garden for storage until the 2024 growing season. Weather permitting, the workshop may include a short visit to the Conservatory’s behind-the-scenes Giving Garden to see the mature plants and harvest a few seeds directly.

Central Gardens of North Iowa – Fall Story Walk (Clear Lake, IA)

From September 15 through October 15, National Hispanic Heritage month will be celebrated with an interactive bilingual story! Start inside the main gate and follow the signs through the gardens to read a story. The StoryWalk® is a wonderful way for readers of all ages to combine literacy skills and healthy exercise while enjoying the surroundings. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition (VBPC) and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.

Northland Arboretum – Haunted Trail (Baxter, MN)

Walk the spooky, scary trails at the Northland Arboretum for our 21st annual Haunted Trail fundraiser! With low, high, and insane scare options, there’s certainly enough fun for everyone. The artistry and creativity won’t disappoint, and the terrifying trails will make your hair stand on end. The trail ends with games, treats and entertainment. Concessions are available at the beginning of the trail and are cash-only.

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum – AppleFest (Chaska, MN)

Join us for the Arboretum’s inaugural AppleFest, featuring a variety of family-friendly activities highlighting apples. We will celebrate the apple industry and the University of Minnesota’s rich history of apple research with apple bingo and trivia with local Arboretum celebrities, orchard tours, apple tasting, lawn games, music by Traveled Ground, and apple-themed concessions, including beverages, food trucks and vendors.
