Family Bird Festival 2024 (Claremont, CA)

Fly, hop, waddle or soar to the Garden for the Family Bird Festival. Enjoy a day outdoors with hands-on experiences and educational opportunities for young beginners and bird enthusiasts alike, presented in partnership with Pomona Valley Audubon Society. Highlights include fun bird crafts, an immersive migration game, and booths from our friends at the International Bird Rescue, Friends of California Condors Wild and Free, San Dimas Canyon Nature Center, Alf Museum of Paleontology, CalPoly Pomona Urban Wildlife Lab, Wild Birds Unlimited, and more! Grab a treat, stay for lunch, and get involved with some community science at the Great Backyard Bird Count stations scattered throughout the Garden.

Mesilla Valley Irish Show (Las Cruces, NM)

The Mesilla Valley Iris Society has an Annual AIS sponsored show each year in mid-late April usually at the Mesilla Valley Mall near the theater. Over 100 irises are brought in by members as well as the public to be judged by trained judges of the American Iris Society.

Mesilla Valley Iris Society Rhizome Sale (Las Cruces, NM)

Sale is happening this year Sept 7-8 at the Mesilla Valley Mall near the theater, during mall hours. Irises are very showy flowers that bloom in the spring and come in a multitude of colors and patterns. All sales have pictures showing what each iris looks like and club members are available to answer questions.

Enchanted Vista Iris Society Annual Iris Show “An Iris Holiday” (Rio Rancho, NM)

Enchanted Vista Iris Society Annual Iris Show “An Iris Holiday”, will be on Saturday, May 4, 2024, Sabana Grande Recreation Center, 4110 Sabana Grande Avenue, SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Entries include the horticulture division, artistic designs (flower arrangements, must include irises), educational displays, and iris photography division. Entries in all divisions are open to public participation with entries taken from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Containers for the horticulture division is provided by the society. Judging follows from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The show will be open to the public 1:00 – 4:00 PM. No entry fee. For further information please call Robin Kishbaugh at (505) 550-9352.

Enchanted Vista Iris Society Rhizome Sale (Rio Rancho, NM)

The sale is open to the public 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Potted Iris at $7.00 each and iris rhizomes $2 to $7 will be available. These are irises that are locally grown by club members. The irises are cleaned and marked. Club members will be available to answer questions.

Magnolia Study Day at JC Raulston Arboretum (Raleigh, NC)

Venture into the World of Magnolias with the Magnolia Society International and the JC Raulston Arboretum as we come together to share our passion for the beauty of these exquisite blooms! This symposium is for the magnolia-curious and the magnolia-obsessed alike. Winter Symposium: “The Obsessive Gardener” (Raleigh, NC)

This morning symposium is for anybody who loves plants, horticulture, and gardening, no matter how obsessive you may be. Anybody who could use a little inspiration for their own garden, or a reminder of the wonderful things to come when winter ends will gain a lot by attending this event. This year’s symposium features three phenomenal guest speakers: Joseph Tychonievich, Catherine Bukowski, and Mike “Gibby-Siz” Gibson, all of whom are just as obsessed with getting people excited about horticulture as they are with horticulture itself.
