Garfield Park Conservatory – Seed Saving Workshop (Chicago, IL)

This interactive workshop will review best practices for harvesting and storing seeds to maintain viability and guide participants, step by step, in preparing a limited selection of flower, herb and vegetable seeds from plants grown in the Conservatory’s Giving Garden for storage until the 2024 growing season. Weather permitting, the workshop may include a short visit to the Conservatory’s behind-the-scenes Giving Garden to see the mature plants and harvest a few seeds directly.

Central Gardens of North Iowa – Fall Story Walk (Clear Lake, IA)

From September 15 through October 15, National Hispanic Heritage month will be celebrated with an interactive bilingual story! Start inside the main gate and follow the signs through the gardens to read a story. The StoryWalk® is a wonderful way for readers of all ages to combine literacy skills and healthy exercise while enjoying the surroundings. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition (VBPC) and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.
