Annual NW Chapter of the N American Rock Garden Society spring plant sale. NWNARGS members and regional specialty growers will offer a wide range of plants that grow in the mountains, forests and deserts of the West, along with plants from Europe, Asia and South America. Members will be available to demonstrate growing conditions and to give advice. Free and open to the public.

Plant Amnesty/Prohort Master Pruner Series for Professionals

The Master Pruner series includes 12 virtual sessions, each one covers a specific topic in pruning including rose, fruit tree, conifer, and rehabilitative pruning. The winter series will run on Thursdays, February 1 – March 7th from 9:30-11:30am and 12:30-2:30pm PST. Each virtual session is 2-hours long and costs $30. Queens Botanical Garden School Holiday Program: MLK Day

During this 9am-3pm drop-off program, young gardeners will learn about food justice movements in Black American history, start seeds in our greenhouse for the spring, and explore our interconnected ecosystems. Children will enjoy the Children’s Garden, where they spend time gardening, playing, observing, and learning in a nurturing environment.

University of Washington Botanic Gardens Master Pruner Series (Virtual)

UW Botanic Gardens is hosting a Master Pruner Series designed for those who work and are interested in landscape maintenance. Each virtual lecture provides information on tools and techniques for quality pruning with better long-term results. The series runs every Thursday for 6 weeks, February 1st-March 7th 2024, with 2 lectures on each Thursday at 9:30am-11:30am and 12:30pm-2:30pm. Participants can sign up for individual classes or the entire 12 class series. Professional credits APLD-2, CPH-2, ecoPRO-2, ISA-2, NALP/WALP-2 are available for each 2-hour lecture.

Idaho Botanical Garden – Bug Day (Boise, ID)

Join us on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 10a – 4p (last entry at 3p) at the Idaho Botanical Garden for a day full of bug-themed activities from local organizations, live music, a VW Bug car show, and a large Mantis puppet roaming the Garden. Our 22nd annual Bug Day offers a variety of bug-themed booths and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) activities, interactive exhibits, and hands-on learning available for learners of any age. There will also be live music from 12-2p, food trucks, and The VW Bug car show – a unique display that combines classic cars with bug-themed excitement – and you can vote for your favorite creation!

Arboretum Foundation – Fall Plant Sale (Seattle, WA)

This year, our fall plant sale will return as a single-day event! The Pat Calvert Greenhouse will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. while volunteers from the Cloney-Harris Plant Nursery will be on site from 10 a.m. to noon. The plant sale will coincide with the grand public opening of John Grade’s large-scale sculpture, Union, in the Arboretum. More details coming soon!
